Trashmasters
Every August Amateurs meet with PGA pros and celebrity golfers in Aspen, Colorado to play in the Trashmasters International Charity Golf Tournament, to raise funds for University Scholarships for financially challenged students. Wacky rules apply and the strange and bizarre events of golf are rewarded.
PGA
The Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) began in 1916 in New York City. Since then the PGA has grown to a network of 41 regions, that provides "grass-roots" support to 25 million amateur golfers and 28,000 professional members.
US Open
Winning the US Open is one of golf's greatest achievements. Each June amateur and professional players alike complete four days of 18-hole rounds of golf in the quest to win this event. In the over 100 years of its existence, it has become a sort of "World Golf Championship".
Masters Golf Tournament
On March 22, 1934 Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts decided to hold an annual golf tournament in honour of golf's greatest players called the The Augusta National Invitation Tournament. It wasn't until 1939 that the event became known as The Masters. The Masters has grown to become the most prestigious tournament in all of Golf.
PGA Championship
The final major of the season, run by the PGA, played in August. For more details see Wikipedia
The Players Championship
"The 5th Major"- an annual tournament in Jacksonville which is played in March (May from 2007) at TPC Sawgrass. Introduced 1974. Part of the PGA tour it is one of the richest tournaments on the Tour.
