International Dek Hockey Tournament Association. "Street Hockey/Dekhockey is a running game played similar to ice hockey with the exception that body checking is not allowed. Running, stick handling, passing and shooting are the basic qualities which provide an exciting and fast game. Leagues and tournaments are played in official rinks on all weather playing surface and under the Official Street Hockey/Dekhockey rules. Play consists of 3 periods with officiating and score keeping."
VikingBall
VikingBall bears many similarities to other forms of ball hockey. The main difference is that the goalie (known as the Viking position), instead of using traditional pads, blockers, and a stick, uses a shield and a hammer to guard the goal, and is also capable of scoring points for his team. The sport derives its name from the shape and size of the shield used to defend the goal, reminiscent of the traditional shield used by vikings. The concept of the sport was also inspired in part by passages in the Norse sagas concerning an especially violent game played by the Vikings, where teams fought for possession of a ball using sticks. This sport, often referred to as knattleikr, was arguably a precursor to what we now call hockey. To complement the shield, the goalie's hammer is was designed to serve several functions in gameplay. The hammer is used to guard the goal, to knock the ball towards allied players, and to hit opposing players to score points for the Viking's team. Its design was inspired by representations of Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. The sport was created in 2006, and its official organization, the American VikingBall League, is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
